If you know Grexx, then you will know Bart. He has been an integral part of our company for many years, joining us in 2011, coming to us with a graduation project for his master's degree in business informatics at TU Eindhoven. His research centered on dynamic case-oriented workflow management systems and SSAE16/SAS70 compliance. Indeed, a deep diver which continues to reflect in his work today.
12 years Grexx
After graduation, Bart was happy to continue working at Grexx, starting as a consultant before moving up to Manager DevOps and Product Owner. At the time of writing this we can say we’ve been enjoying Bart's cheerful character, his hard work and his technical expertise for about 12 years. As of January 2023, we are proud to call him our CTO. We look forward to having him with us for another 12 years.
"It is quite special that as a 36-year-old, I have been working at Grexx for 12 years. What I have always liked about this team is that on the one hand we work hard on beautiful things, but we also combine that with fun. Once a year, part of the team goes away for a weekend, whoever feels like it. Those are super fun days. Beforehand, I always make a program with my colleague Jeffrey and together we come up with The Great Grexx Weekend Quiz, which we take way too seriously. It’s great fun and every year I have good memories. Now and then, we also do something different; this week we took the dev team to the Efteling amusement park. It is nicer to work with people you can also appreciate privately."

Bart is one of the founders of the current revamped Grexx Platform. Although Grexx existed for years before we got to know Bart, he was the one who said (as an intern) "... I think this can be done better." With the support of our CEO Pieter Hufen behind him, Bart has worked hard with his team over the past few years to reinvent the existing Grexx Platform and with success!
Besides his master's degree in business informatics, Bart also has a degree as a computer science teacher. It may seem unexpected, but his teaching skills have proved valuable for Grexx, where Bart has put his teaching skills to good use in the development of Grexx Enabled, the training program for the Grexx Platform.
Opinionated
It is well known that Bart is not one to shy away from sharing his opinions. He enjoys fostering stimulating discussions within the team. "I think it's nice that we work with a team full of wise guys, who all have an opinion on how things can be done better. As long as we respectfully listen to each other's ideas and work together towards our goals, I believe we can only improve."
Private
Originally from Brabant, Bart now lives in Amersfoort with his wife and two rabbits. Even in his spare time, sitting still is difficult for Bart. He used to volunteer at 3FM's Glazen Huis (Glass House), Stichting Techniekpromotie and in the radio studios of the regional broadcasting company. He also has a mountain of hobbies, which include going out with his wife, enjoying sushi, exploring the United States, visiting theme parks and enjoying live music.
